Hand-Painted Furniture
One-of-a-kind dressers, tables, chairs, and accent pieces transformed with chalk and mineral paint into works of art.
Fresh Local Art & Handcrafted Treasures
A one-of-a-kind artisan boutique showcasing hand-painted furniture, local Florida art, and handmade crafts from talented Highlands County artists.
Our Story
Bare Wood Market is the creation of Laura Young, who discovered her passion for furniture painting while working in the Highlands County school system. What began as a hobby—refinishing pieces learned from her in-laws' woodworking traditions—grew into something much bigger.
Today, the boutique on North Ridgewood Drive is a beloved gathering place for art lovers, treasure hunters, and anyone looking for something handcrafted with care. We proudly showcase the work of local Florida artists and makers from across Highlands County.
“I found an old dresser at a garage sale and decided to paint it. I was able to sell that piece for a profit and I thought to myself ‘wow, this could turn into something.’”
— Laura Young, OwnerFrom statement furniture to thoughtful handmade gifts, every item in our shop is chosen—or created—with love.
One-of-a-kind dressers, tables, chairs, and accent pieces transformed with chalk and mineral paint into works of art.
Original paintings, pottery, metal sculptures, and mixed media from talented artists across Highlands County and beyond.
Candles, artisan soaps, lotions, jewelry, unique handbags, and lovingly crafted items perfect for giving or keeping.
Painted signs, decorative books, wood clocks, floral arrangements, wreaths, and vintage accents for every style.
Plants, garden sculptures, cutting boards, outdoor décor and charming pieces to brighten any patio or porch.
Mineral and chalk-style paints, brushes, and everything you need to start your own furniture painting journey at home.
Every piece in our shop is handcrafted by a Florida artist. We're proud to be a home for their creativity.
Each month, we shine a spotlight on a different local artist with a dedicated display and evening reception. Meet the maker, hear their story, and take home something truly original.
“We're only showcasing the work of our local artists here at Bare Wood Market. We call it fresh local art.”
